Bitumen Membrane Installation

Bitumen membranes are a very useful roofing product which is always growing in popularity. Bitumen’s role in roofing is to act as a sealant between the roof and sheeting to protect from the rain; bitumen membranes cut applying bitumen out of the process, requiring roofers to merely unroll the bitumen membrane.

Bitumen membranes have a non-stick protective layer in order to keep it inert. When about to apply to a roof, you peel this layer off while unrolling the roll of bitumen membrane into its desired position. While it is a simplified process, specialist equipment is still a requirement, with the need of a low-temperature blow-torch, which is used to stick down both ends of the membrane to ensure it is properly secure.

This type of waterproofing is particularly important for flat-roofing work, as without adequate leak protection flat-roofing becomes impossible.
